Day 81: Ask your government to stop burning waste

Your local authority probably burns a portion of your household waste. You can ask them to stop. Here’s how…

You might wonder how plastic causes climate change. In the UK a large proportion of waste plastic is incinerated or shipped abroad, causing millions of tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

So next time you’re thinking about buying a soda in a plastic bottle, remember that it might end up in the atmosphere or the sea.

The best thing we can do is stop buying products in plastic packaging — which you’ve already taken steps towards during this 100-day challenge. But we also need to stop the government from shipping waste abroad or burning it and instead recycle it.

Imagine...

Imagine if 1 million people completed 100 Days to Save the World.

We would change the world.

It's possible.

Imagine how the world could be.

It's up to us to change it. Not someone else.
