Day 29: Make a home for some bees

Bees have been classified as the most important species on earth by the Earthwatch Institute. That’s the good news. Here’s the bad news…

Almost 90 percent of American Bumblebee populations have disappeared in the last few years, according to the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

Without bees, we’re completely screwed. A huge number of plants and animals (including humans) depend on the plants that are pollinated by bees.

Many bee species nest in small holes, like these. You can help them by making or buying these small structures, known as ‘bee hotels’. Search for bee hotels to find a variety of shapes and sizes.

You can build a simple bee hotel by following this video tutorial:

You can also buy pre-made bee hotels on Amazon and other online retailers, as well as many garden centers.

Imagine...

Imagine if 1 million people completed 100 Days to Save the World.

We would change the world.

It's possible.

Imagine how the world could be.

It's up to us to change it. Not someone else.
