Day 86: Share this Amazon deforestation map with a friend

Based on the current rate of deforestation, the Amazon Rainforest will be completely lost in less than 300 years.

According to a satalite based forest clearing detection survey by PRODES (Projeto de Monitoramento do Desmatamento na Amazônia Legal por Satélite) 11,000 square kilometers of forest were lost in 2020 (nature.com).

If we extrapolate that rate we see most of the Rainforest will be gone in just over a hundred years.

It’s sad that the rainforest will be lost so soon, but it’s also an unknown risk to the future of our planet. We’re gambling with our future because we don’t really know the full implications of killing trillions of trees and animals in such a short space of time.
What can you do? First of all, if you’re buying fruit, chocolate, tea, coffee or products that contain soy or palm oil, make sure they’re Rainforest Alliance certified. Look for this logo on the packaging.

Imagine...

Imagine if 1 million people completed 100 Days to Save the World.

We would change the world.

It's possible.

Imagine how the world could be.

It's up to us to change it. Not someone else.
