Day 17: Change your home’s gas furnace (gas boiler) to an electric heat pump

Every time you heat your home or run hot water you’re causing climate change. Here’s what you need to do to fix it…

Most homes in the West are heated using a furnace (which we call a gas boiler in the UK). Furnaces burn gas or coal releasing millions of tons of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere every year.
A heat pump achieves the same thing but it uses electricity, which means it can be powered using renewable energy like solar and wind power.
By switching your home’s heating from a furnace (or gas boiler) to an electric heat pump you can save money and dramatically cut your greenhouse gas emissions.

In order to stop climate change, we’re going to need to change all the gas-powered water heaters to electric heat pumps in every building in the world.

Once you’ve switched your furnace to an electric heat pump for your home heating, you’ll now be using renewable energy sources like solar and wind to power your home, your car and your heating. It’s a huge step forward.

Imagine...

Imagine if 1 million people completed 100 Days to Save the World.

We would change the world.

It's possible.

Imagine how the world could be.

It's up to us to change it. Not someone else.
